Dr. Tony grew up in New Jersey where his parents discovered the health benefits of Chiropractic care for the entire family as patients of Dr. Bill Cirino.

Beginning Chiropractic care when he was in the 5th grade, Tony immediately ran off a string of 4 consecutive years of perfect attendance at school (a school record). Certain that this was not just a coincidence, young Tony told Dr. Cirino “I want to be a Chiropractor when I grow up”. Dr. Cirino advised that he contact Palmer College of Chiropractic (Davenport, Iowa), which he did, and a packet arrived in the mail containing a Chiropractic College course catalog along with a personal letter admonishing him to “study hard in high school, especially science”.

After moving to Colorado in 1971 and graduating from Lakewood High School, Tony attended Arapahoe Community College for his Associates Degree in Applied Science, with grades earning him an academic scholarship to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. Tony worked his way through Chiropractic college as a house painter, putting in 40-60 hours per week, and still managed to graduate with honors on the President’s List in 1977 at the age of 23 (compressing 6 years of college into 5).

It was in Davenport that he met Nancy, a high school teacher, and they married in 1978, returning to Colorado with the goal of serving humanity as a Doctor in the world’s largest natural healing profession, Chiropractic. Nancy has a Master’s Degree in Athletic Training which brought additional expertise into their service.

After graduation Dr. Tony studied Nutrition under Dr. Bernard Jensen and Enzyme Therapy under Dr. Howard Loomis. Dr. Jensen held degrees as a Chiropractor and a Naturopath. Dr. Tony and Nancy traveled to Dr. Jensen’s health ranch in Escondido, California for a week of in-depth study to augment Dr. Tony’s reading of Dr. Jensen’s many books. Dr. Loomis studied with Dr. Edward Howell who the first to research enzyme supplementation in human digestion. Howell formed the National Enzyme Company in 1932 and half a century later Dr. Loomis partnered with Howell to form Nutrition Enzyme Support Systems (NESS) incorporating advancements in enzyme technology.  Dr. Tony also studied Chiropractic techniques under pioneers M.B. DeJarnette (Sacro Occiputal Technique or SOT) and R. R. Gregory (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association or NUCCA). Dr. Tony also studied homeopathy under Dr. Nick Nossamon.

Dr. Tony’s local mentor was Dr. C. Davis Skinner, who practiced Chiropractic for 50 years in Denver from 1929 to 1979.  Dr. Tony interned in his office, and some of the adjusting tables Dr. Tony uses today once belonged to Dr. Skinner.

Chiropractic was discovered in 1895 in Davenport, Iowa by a magnetic healer named D. D. Palmer. His son, B. J. Palmer was the developer of Chiropractic and built Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport as the teaching fountainhead of the art, science, and philosophy of Chiropractic. Dr. Skinner studied under B. J. Palmer in the 1920’s;  Dr. Cirino studied under B. J. Palmer in the 1950’s. Dr. Tony enrolled in Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1974 when the son of B. J. Palmer, David Palmer, was the College President and Chiropractic was approaching 80 years since its discovery.

Since 1895 Chiropractors have advocated for a natural healthy lifestyle of obeying the Laws of Nature beginning with the first Law of Biology, the Law of Homeostasis, while allopathic medicine went a different direction of promoting the use of pharmaceuticals which manipulate body chemistry to control symptoms and disease. We are grateful for the benefits afforded by all of medical science and the many sincere practitioners of all disciplines, and we strive to work in cooperation for the benefit of the patient. A healthy nerve system and a lifestyle that maintains Homeostasis is the best way to prevent dis-ease; and restoring Homeostasis maximizes self-healing during any disease treatment.  Homeostasis is the relentless pursuit of equilibrium within every cell, organ, and system, adapting to every stress, and recognizes that every cause has an effect. The feedback system that ultimately coordinates homeostasis within the organism is the nerve system.

Dr. Tony believes that the world will enjoy better health by avoiding drugs and surgery as much as possible, by making fundamental lifestyle choices enabling us to enjoy optimum health as designed and intended by the Creator of all of life. Care of the central nerve system which is housed and protected by the skull and spinal column is an essential to health of the whole body. It is an honor to serve humanity by cooperating with the innate intelligence of the body to maintain homeostasis so the body can heal itself.

Nancy and Dr. Tony have three children (which they homeschooled) and nine grandchildren. They enjoy many outdoor activities: their garden and their goats, pedaling their tandem bicycle, paddling their tandem kayak, snowshoeing, hiking, and running; and indoors they enjoy ballroom dancing and tap dancing, ringing handbells, attending the symphony and other concerts, and especially…harmony singing.

Dr. Tony’s passion is singing barbershop harmony, and they both sing together in a mixed gospel barbershop quartet called “Joyful Noise”.

After 40 years in practice, Dr. Tony still looks forward to enjoying a full lifetime of Chiropractic service to humanity, God-willing.
